Level 3, Pre-Intermediate, Post 10, 'English Language Challenges'

About my experience learning english at university i must confess that its great, usually English are really dificult to me, but in this semester has not only been entretaning i feel i learning. So, at least the English classes, more than a load has been entertaining for me, because there are interactive activities, fun assessments and that is greatly appreciated these days, so I like to connect early to English III.

Using blogs is a good way to practice writing in English and expressing my ideas immediately in other languages, it was also a continuous assessment that descompress the academic load.

About the aspects of my English that I need to improve are pronunciation, I really have horrible pronunciation and hearing, sometimes I confuse words and offend other people. I need to talk and practice more.

Outside of English class, I use English to read articles and bibliography from other classes, and this class helps me to decrease the time I spend reading things in English.

Also outside of English class, I use English to watch movies and series in their original languages, they are amazing because the voices are so different from the dubbing. For example, it is not the same to see the Big Bang theory in Spanish, the voice of Sheldon dubbed is completely different from that of his original voice, it changes everything.

I really learn and enjoy these classes, I feel that I have a better ear to understand the pronunciation of the different nationalities, it really was difficult for me, but after listening to the audios many times, I feel more capable in that.

Level 3, Pre-Intermediate, Post 9, '3rd Themed Free Post' July 07, 2020

Ok, here we go now, a free topic post? again?, every time we have to write a free topic post, I spend almost 10 minutes thinking about what I will write. But I know I said it many times before, but I really went blank in this situation, i prefer to write about something someone tells me to write, because it is more easy to me.

The first free topic i wrote it was about my dog is called Silvio, he is 2 years old, he is so protective with me and conte que he follows me everywhere, even when i stay all the night studying he stays with me. I must confess that it was fun writing about it, but I love my dog.

The second free topic I wrote about when i traveled to Iquique in december 2018. This trip was for the university, they paid me to go to present a research to the sociology congress. We did this research among many people, but only two went to present it to the congress. Once again I wrote about this, it was fun, but it was really difficult for me.

So, at this time I wrote about the free topics that I wrote before, it is a free blog topic about free topics that I wrote.

Level 3, Pre-Intermediate, Post 8, 'A Subject you've enjoyed studying this semester'

This teme is not my favoryte, i must confess in this semester I have not had a very good time, because the most of my teachers have continued their classes as if they were regular classes.

This has happened to me especially in sociology classes, where professorships last more than 1 hour and a half, assessments and academic burden has not changed, this has had more time than usual studying, because concentration is more difficult for me.

This has not only been academically heavy, but has brought me other problems, such as headaches from being long in front of the computer or back pain.

For that, I must thank you, that at least the English classes, more than a load has been entertaining for me, because there are interactive activities, fun assessments and that is greatly appreciated these days, so I like to connect early to English III.

For this I want to thank you through this blog for your understanding and support, it has been very relevant to have a different class than others and that it is also nice to take.

Level 3, Pre-Intermediate, Post 7, 'Carrer-Related Website OR An Expert on your Field'

If i have to think of a person or an expert in my field that i admire, i can talk about two people. One of them is a teacher who incentives me and support me as a student (he helped me to change from my university program to u Chile program, but now, I will not talk about him).

Now I will talk about a second person that I admire in my field, this person is an author named Karl Marx, I know, he is really criticized and he is very controversial, but he is really good and it does not matter if you agree or not with his ideas, however,  everyone agrees on one thing and that he is a great author who explains capitalism and its bases so completely (its failures, its tendencies to crisis and functioning) through workers’ exploitation.

He was a philosopher and economist (yes, he is not a sociologist), he was born in Prussia in 1818 and died in London (it is really ironic that he died in the cradle of capitalism). Karl was an intelectual who theorized about the Society, Economy and Politics, he criticized capitalism and put in evidence the explotation and the appropriation of the work force by workers, and not only that, he also contributed to motivate a thousand of workers to fight for their rights.

So, because of that, i like him, he is really great and one day we will be able to see the consecuencies of the capitalism and i hope that society will change someday.

Level 3, Pre-Intermediate, Post 6, '2nd Themed Free Post' June 13, 2020

Not again, a free topic? Really i dont like them, because i dont know what say or what write, i really went blank in this situation, but there is no way, so i will write about my travel to Iquique.

When i traveled to Iquique it was in december 2018, and that was the first time i traveled without my family. This trip was for the university, they paid me to go to present a research to the sociology congress. We did this research among many people, but only two went to present it to the congress.

The best part of this trip was when the congress had already finished, and With my partner we were able to take a tour of the saltpeter works (Humberstone and Santa Laura) and the town of pica.

I learned many things in iquique and it was a very nice experience (also was free) and I was able to visit many places and spend a nice vacation in the north of the country.

A photograph you like

If i am honest, i must confess that i don´t really like a lot the photographs, but i found one photo that i like. This is the photo that i took when i traveled to Uruguay, this travel it was the best travel that i have, because, i never had traveled outside the country and someone invited me, and its a wonderful place, there is a beautiful beach and a wonderful weather.

This photo brings back a many memories, many laughs and also this photo reminds me that they have a very good food, there i fell in love with the milanesas (its a meat fried) and Chivitos (it is something similar to churrasco with french fries), i ate a lot in that place.

I took this photo when I had my last day in Punta del Este, after I traveled to Montevideo, I love it, I found a lot of books there and so cheap, this it was my favorite moment in Montevideo. 

Level 3, Pre-Intermediate, Post 4, 'Free Topic 1'

Well i really think this is the most dificult blog i have to do, i really went blank in this situation, i prefer to write about something someone tells me to write, because it is more easy to me, but there is no way, so i will write about my pet, it is a dog, it is lovely (but not lovely for strangers)

My dog is called Silvio (he is called after Silvio Rodríguez), he is 2 years old, he is a little dog but he is so protective with me, he follows me everywhere, even when i stay all the night studying he stays with me.

My dog and me always eat together, he likes to eat a lot, so food i eat, food that i share with him, sometimes that has brought us a lot of problems, because the dogs can´t eat the same the humans eat, so i studied hard about the things a dog cannot eat, now when i eat something he cannot eat, i bring with me some of his food (so he doesn't make his sad face when he is hungry)

For me, my dog is charming, but he is not friendly with strangers, i dont know if this is because he is frightened about strangers, or he doesn't like them, but he doesn't let strangers (or another dogs) to come near me or touch me, he is too protective and territorial (once my cousin scared me and then my dog bit him for that reason)

I dont care if he’s not friendly, because he is lovely

Level 3, Pre-Intermediate, Post 3, 'Your favourite piece of technology'

My favourite piece of technology is my game console, is a Xbox 360 called Negrita, because it is black (i know the nickname it isn’t original, but im not good in this). This console i got it when i was fourteen and i spent many hours of my life playing (sometimes i didn't sleep playing, really i love it). It was often use it at night, after the school and the weekend (in the summer i was playing everyday) but now i dont play, actually i dont play since 2016, the reason is i entered the university, and i do not play because playing spends too much time and i need study a lot (and read a lot), but i still remember all the games i used to play (and sometimes i see videogaming from you tube), i like videogames, and i like my Negrita, it never faild me and always it work fine to me and i still have many friends with who i played videogames. But i dont use my console and i’m thinking to sell it, because i dont think i'm going to play with it anymore and someone alse can use it and enjoy it. More than me.

Level 3, Pre-Intermediate, Post 2, 'Why did you choose this study program?'

When i was a child always dream could be a archeologist, i love it, sounds crazy but im in love this career when i saw the mummy movie.  Then i forgot this dream, because mi family was thinking it was totaly crazy (it really was) but always it was my dream. This is the reason that mi first option was the antopologist career at the momento of applying to university in the university of chile (this career have the option to specializate in archeologist) but i was on the waiting list and i make a terrible mistake, i only postulate in three options (all of then in the University of chile) so i was in waiting list, the reason because i have search a private university. In this moment i choose the university central, there i prefeer sociology (and i love it), this is the reason when i change the institution i prefer sociology and not archeology. Finaly the kind of job i would like to have is in the university teaching.

My auto biography

I was born in January 8th in santiago, in the hospital Sotero del Rio and I grew up in my grandfathers house. I studied in a school called Purkuyen up to eighth grade. Then i studied in Liceo 7 (it was only for women),

there i met my bests friends.
In 2016 i go to the University it's called Universidad Central, to study sociology, i was here for three years when
i decide apply to a process of transference to the University of Chile (my current institution of study).

I have a big family, but now i live with mi parents called Patricio and Maria, and my sister
called Magdalena. I also live with four dogs, they're so nice, i love them. My dogs are always with me, even when im in class. 

Finally, i love it goin to swim, and i miss it so much do it, because when i swim i relaxing and destressing, especially now, for the quarentine.
